For the study of the peripheral nervous system except from the Electromyography and Neurography, recently it was developed the Ultrasound of the nerves. Neurography examines the nerve conduction through nerve electrical impulses and the ultrasound can add other valuable informations about nerve morphology.
Ultrasound can illustrate almost in full length the peripheral nerves of interest in a way fast and painless. Both Neurography and Ultrasound can differentiate several nerve pathologies. So, that in this way can help in diagnosis and treatment of conditions that produce damage in peripheral nerves, such as entrapment neuropathies (carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuritis etc), peripheral neuropathies, nerve traumas etc.
